Soil samples were
collected from P-13 only and discrete ground water grab samples were collected
from all of the CPTs and analyzed for petroleum hydrocarbons, fuel oxygenates,
and lead scavengers. Soil samples were collected from "P-13" at 20' and 40'
bgs in an attempt to complete the lateral delineation of the soil plume. Total
petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg) and various BTEX constituents
were detected in soil samples "P-13-20" and "P-13-40", the highest concentration
being TPHg at 28 mg/kg in P-13-20.
Laboratory analyses indicated that petroleum hydrocarbons have impacted the
deepest and most down-gradient area investigated (P-11). EHD agrees with
recommendations included in the Report that additional investigation is
warranted further north and northeast of P-11. A work plan for this work
should be submitted by April 7, 2006.
EHD understands that the placement of monitoring wells into the municipal right
of way requires bonding that exceeds your budget at this time. EHD has been
patient and understanding with the financial concerns associated with this site
investigation. With the information showing contamination more than 400 feet
down gradient from the site, EHD will not allow any further delays in completing
the site investigation. As soon as this investigative phase is complete, you will
be required to install monitoring wells at areas and depths of concern identified
by the CPT borings. Please plan for this requirement now.
