13 July 2012
AGE-NC Project No.96-0236
Page 3 of 13
EPA method 826013;
• Dissolved metals by EPA method 200.7;
• Hexavalent Chromium by EPA method 218.6;
• Anions by EPA method 300.1;
• Ammonia as N by EPA method 350.1;
• Total dissolved solids by EPA method SM250C.
3.2. HYDROGEN PEROXIDE SOLUTION PREPARATION AND INJECTION
Between 28-30 March, 04-06 April, 11-13 April and 18-20 April 2012, a total of sixteen (16)
batches of a 5% solution of hydrogen peroxide were prepared on-site for ISCO injections.
Each batch was prepared by mixing the following ratio into a 200-gallon poly tank: (1) 160
gallons of potable water from an on-site source, (2) approximately 25-27 gallons of 35%
industrial grade hydrogen peroxide, and (3) 1.25 gallons of muriatic acid. Once the
hydrogen peroxide solution was mixed (modified Fenton's Reagent), each batch was
gravity fed from separate 200-gallon poly tanks and into wells DPE-1 and DPE-2 utilizing
vinyl tubing.
During each injection event (i.e. total of 4 batches), one tank of the hydrogen peroxide
mixture (equaling approximately 200-gallons) was injected into DPE-1 and three tanks
(equaling approximately 600-gallons)were injected into DPE-2 over a period of three days.
3.3. POST-ISCO INJECTION MONITORING EVENTS
Additionally,four post-ISCO injection monitoring events were conducted on 25 April (Post-
ISCO Event No. 1), 02 May(Post-ISCO Event No. 2), 09 May(Post-ISCO Event No. 3)and
16 May 2012 (Post-ISCO Event No. 4) utilizing wells MW-1 A, MW-2, MW-4, DPE-1 and
DPE-2 to determine the effectiveness of the pilot study injections. Field parameters pH,
dissolved oxygen (DO), oxygen reduction potential (ORP), salinity, total dissolved solids
(TDS),temperature and electronic conductivity(EC)were collected from each well utilizing
a YS1556i multi-meter probe. The probe was placed down-hole into the water column until
readings were stabilized.
In addition to in well parameter collection, ground water samples were collected in
accordance with AGE's standard monitoring procedure from each of the above wells.
Advanced GeoEnvironmenlal,Inc.
