The sampling rig will
drive a 24nc -4ameter by 2-foot4ong stainless steel barrel Enod wb 24nuh-6ametar by 6-inch-long breSs
sample tubes or 2-feet-long clear plastic tubing at each location.
Soil samples will be collected from the borings at 15 feet BGS. The 15-foot sample will be oa;lected in
native so9 approximately 3 feet beneath the and of each of the three USTs. All sampling equipment will be
steam cleaned prior to samplMg the soil at each Interval. Each soil sample will be screened for
hydrocarbon vapors using a photoionization detector(PIP. Soils encountered during drilling%VI be logged
using the Unified Soil Classification Systgm dy a Fluor Daniel GTI field geologist.worid ng under the
supervision of a CsE fornig registered geologist. One sample tube from each sampEng interval will be
sealed with Teflon sheets, capped, taped, labeled, and placed an ice In an insulated container- Each
sample will be analyzed by a State-certified analytical laboratory for benzene, toluene, ethyl benzene and
xylenes(BTM,methyl-tert-butyl-ether(MTBE),and total petroleum hydrocarbons-ss-gasoline (TPH-G)by
EPA methods 8020/8015 modified, and Total Lead following EPA method 6010-
using the geoprobe technology,no soil will be generated during sampling. Water generated by steam
cleaning will be contained and temporarily stored on site in DCCT-approved 55-gallon drums pending
characterization and disposal.
TASK 3: GROUNDWATER SAt.7PUNG
Due to the shallow depth to groundwater, estemated to be 13 feet BGS,groundwater will likely be
encountered in the boreholes. if there is sufficient groundwater recharge in the boreholes following
extraction of the geoprobe sampling rods, water samples will be collected from two water-bearing borings
and analyzed for BTM MTBE,and TPH-G using EPA methods 8020/8015 modified. if detected, the
presence of MTBE in the groundwater will be confirmed using EPA method 8260_
