Former George's Service Page 3 of 3
1600 Durham Ferry Road December 1, 2014
Tracy, California 95376
The EHD comments on the current sampling schedule and numbered items as follows:
• EHD approves quarterly performance monitoring of MW-1, MW-2, MW-7, MW-101,
OW-1 and OW-2 through the third quarter 2015;
• EHD approves the analyses of TPHg, BTEX, MTBE, and 1,2-DCA for groundwater
samples collected quarterly through the third quarter 2015;
• EHD directs that MW-8, MW-102 and OW-2 be omitted from the list of wells being
sampled and having depth-to-water measurements collected through the third quarter
2015;
• EHD approves Ground Zero's proposals numbered above except for proposal number
eight; the EHD will not approve future performance monitoring, groundwater sampling
and monitoring beyond the one-year pilot study which the EHD believes began when soil
vapor extraction wells VEW-3 through VEW-6 were installed on-site in October 2014.
Future monitoring requirements will be based on evaluation of findings to date at that
time.
Include estimates of mass removal in the semi-annual groundwater monitoring and treatment
system effectiveness reports; if the mass removal ratios are low provide technical justification
for continued operation of the remediation system. Once the EHD has received the report of
findings from installing the four soil vapor extraction wells (VEW3 through VEW6) and
advancing the three soil borings in October 2014, and has received and reviewed results from
completing the one-year pilot study, the EHD will assess the need to submit a corrective action
plan and continue groundwater monitoring.
Please contact Vicki McCartney at (209) 468-9852 or by e-mail at vmccartney(o),sicehd.com if
you have any questions or comments.
Sincerely,
Victoria L. McCartney, REHS Nuel C. Henderson, Jr., PG
Senior Registered Environmental Health pecialist Engineering Geologist
c: Mr. Eric L. Price, PG, Ground Zero Analysis, Inc., 1172 Kansas Avenue, Modesto,
California 95351-1526
Mr. James Barton, PG, California Regional Water Quality Control Board Central Valley
Region, 11020 Sun Center Drive, Suite 200, Rancho Cordova, California 95670
