Proposal-Soil and Groundwater Investigation
Hannan&Helen's Marina
May 23, 1995
Page-2.
diesel contamination has been encountered beneath the former UST locations. The proposed soil and
groundwater investigation will include the drilling of three (3) hydropunch sampling points oriented
around the former UST locations. The proposed locations of the hydropunch borings are shown on
Figure 1, attached. Soil and hydropunch groundwater samples will be collected from the borings for
field screening and chemical analyses. Based on the results of the soil and groundwater sampling,
Condor will prepare recommendations for additional site investigation and/or site cleanup, as
warranted.
PROPOSED METHODOLOGY
The proposed investigation is summarized in the following task list:
TASK 1 - WORK PLAN PREPARATION:
Prepare a site specific Health and Safety Plan (H&S). Prepare a project Work Plan. A
preliminary copy of the Work Plan will be presented to the client for approval prior to final
submission. Submit the Work Plan, H&S Plan, and work schedule to the SJCEHD and the
CRWQCB for review. If requested by the SJCEHD or the CRWQCB, adjustments will be
made to the Work Plan for final approval. Drilling permits will be obtained from the
SJCEHD prior to fieldwork. The local reclamation district or other applicable agencies will be
contacted for approval prior to conducting drilling at the site. Encroachment permitting and
special permit requirements will be billed on a time and materials basis and are not included in
this estimate. Underground Service Alert will be notified to identify and locate underground
utilities at the site prior to drilling.
TASK 2 - FIELDWORK:
The fieldwork will include the drilling of three (3) hydropunch sampling points at the
proposed locations shown on Figure 1, attached. The proposed borings/hydropunch will be
drilled using 6-inch diameter, continuous flight, hollow stem auger. Two (2) of the proposed
hydropunch boreholes will be located on the levee and will be drilled to a depth of
approximately 25 feet below the top of the levee or until groundwater is encountered. The
remaining hydropunch sampling point will be located below the levee and will be drilled to a
depth of approximately 10 feet below the ground surface. Soil samples will be collected at
five (5) foot intervals for geological logging and field screening. Three (3) soil samples (1
sample per borehole) will be retained for laboratory analyses. A groundwater sample will be
collected from each of the boreholes using the Hydropunch II groundwater sampling tool.
Upon completion of the groundwater sampling, the boreholes will be filled with neat cement
containing 3-5% bentonite.
N&-o
aw•
3 L,y CONDOR
7
