T /
period of time the tanks were in service. The site had been a welding supply
warehouse for many years; a small portion of the building is still used for that
purpose. The rest is leased for use as an automotive body repair shop.
BRIEF REVIEW OF PRIOR WORK:
June 12, 1986 - Two 550 gallon UST's were removed from the property by Seibold,
Inc. The owners have no information concerning the disposition of the tanks by the
contractor, or what was done with the removed spoil.
August 28, 1986 - Two (2) soil samples were taken from the site of the removed
UST's by an employee of Canonie Environmental. It is assumed that the excavation
was filled after this work was performed.
September 19, 1995 - The site of the removed UST's was reentered using Jim
Thorpe Oil, Inc. equipment and personel under the direction of Wm. Hunter, RG from
Wm. J. Hunter & Associates. Approximately 130 cubic yards of contaminated soil was
excavated; it was disposed of at a licensed land fill. The REHS representative from
the San Joaquin Co. EHD directed that soil & water samples were not needed at that
time, since additional work would be required. The excavation was filled with pea
gravel and covered with asphalt. For more details of that work, refer to Wm. J. Hunter
& Associates (WJH) report titled "Interim Assessment Report Covering Results of Soil
Excavation Work & Work plan for Soil & Groundwater Investigation'; dated February
8, 1996. TABLE I summarizes the results of the lab analyses from the spoil pile
samples.
July 25, 1996 - Eight (8) shallow geoprobe holes were placed on the property in an
attempt to define the lateral limits of soil and groundwater contamination. The details
of that work is covered in the Wm. J. Hunter & Associates report titled "Interim
Assessment Report Covering Results of Soil & Groundwater Investigation..." dated
August 26, 1996. The locations of those probe holes are shown on PLATE III. The
lithologic plots are included as PLATES VIIIA - VIIIH. The laboratory results of soil
and water samples taken during that work are summarized on TABLES 11 & III.
October 4 1996 - Three (3) 2" monitoring wells were placed on the property under the
direction of Wm. J. Hunter & Associates. They were drilled to 20' bgl, and screened
from bottom to 5' below grade. The details of that work is covered in the Wm. J.
Hunter & Associates report titled `Interim Assessment Report Covering Results of Soil
& Groundwater Investigation" dated November 12, 1996. The locations of the three
wells is shown on PLATES III & IV. Copies of the lithologic plots and completion
diagrams are shown on PLATES IXA - IXF. The results of the laboratory analyses of
soil samples from that work are summarized on TABLE IV.
3
