We understand from Ms.
Margaret Lagorio of the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (SJCEHD)that the
SJCEHD is using Appendix A of the Tri-Regional document for guidance at this time. Horizon
Environmental Inc. Field Methods and Procedures are included in Attachment A of this work plan.
SITE DESCRIPTION AND BACKGROUND
I
The subject site is an automobile dealership located at 1615 11th Street in Tracy, California. As
shown on the Site Vicinity Map (Figure 1), it is located adjacent to the Southern Pacific railroad
tracks, and approximately 0.2 mile north of the Lower Main Canal. The elevation of the site is
approximately 44 feet above mean sea level (MSL). The site is owned by Winner Ford of Alameda,
California, and was formerly occupied by Discovery Chevrolet; the current tenant is Tracy Chevrolet.
Site facilities include an auto showroom, a sales office, and service bays. We understand from
information provided by Ms.Nokes that two 500-gallon gasoline underground storage tanks (USTs)
were removed from a common excavation at the site in April 1993, and that no USTs are known to
remain at the site (GeoStrategies Inc., December 7, 1994, Preliminary Environmental Investigation
and Evaluation Report for Former Discovery Chevrolet, 1615 11th Street, Tracy, California).
Locations of these facilities and other pertinent site features are shown on the Site Plan (Figure 2).
GeoStrategies (December 7, 1994) indicated that when the two gasoline tanks were removed, four
soil samples were collected from the base of the excavation at approximately 9 to 10 feet deep. These
samples were found to contain total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg) at concentrations
3001-1 i.wp 2 HORIZON ENVIRONMENTAL INC.
