Airport Way, extending east and west from the intersection. All of these existing
sanitary sewer mains are available for extension Into the annexation area.
E
Sewer capacity is not anticipated to be a problem because expansion of
Manteca's sewer treatment plant is .presently underway. Initial phases of the
sewer plant expansion have already created increased sewer capacity in
advance of capacity that will become available when the expansion projected is
completed in 2007. As development projects begin to occur, the developers or
the City will extend the sewer mains from their present terminus to serve the
area.
2. Water Supply_:
Manteca's municipal water supply system is based on an interconnected grid
r
design, wherein new development expands the existing grid system, and new
municipal water wells are added to the system, as they are needed to maintain
an adequate water supply. A water supply analysis prepared by the public works
department (dated April 19, 2005) determined that the water supply for the r
annexation, area will be adequate. A copy of the report is enclosed.
The South County Surface Water project, of which the City of Manteca is a
participant, is anticipated to be operational by August of 2005. 'Once operational,
the surface water will augment the existing groundwater supply system, reducing
the city's reliance on groundwater by approximately 50 percent. The new source
of water will assure a long-term supply of water and help reverse the over-
drafting condition of the groundwater supply.
Municipal water service is presently available to portions of the annexation, or will
be made available as new development begins to replace existing rural uses. A
12-inch water main located in Yosemite Avenue presently crosses through the
annexation area; and the water main extends a short distance north and south of
Yosemite Avenue along Airport Way. A 10-inch water main is presently located
in Fishback Road. A 12-inch water main is located in Wawona Street, and
extends north for a short distance along Airport Way. A 12-inch water main
extends south of Wawona Street along Airport Way, and is looped with other
water mains located to the south.
The entire annexation area will be served by the City's municipal water system.
As development begins to occur in this area, existing water mains will be
extended by the developers or the City and looped together to complete the
municipal water system grid for-this area. The two 12-inch water mains that
.presently terminate in Airport Way, south of Yosemite Avenue and north of
Wawona Street will be "looped" together. Upgrade of water facilities is not
anticipated gas a result of this project.
3. Storm Drainage:
The backbone of Manteca's storm water collection and disposal system is based
on a long-term partnership between the city of Manteca and the South San
Joaquin.
