y (3) A landfill gas control or recovery system would be installed. (4) Gas accumulations in on-site buildings or beneath temporary buildings shall be prevented by regular monitoring. (5) The landfill operator shall install an automatic combustible gas detection and alarm system for structures at the site. ODOR: To reduce odor impacts from landfill wastes, the following measures shall be implemented: (1) The project includes the design and implementation of a landfill gas recovery or control system to ensure efficient destruction of odoriferous substances. (2) Excessively odorous wastes shall be mixed immediately with other landfill wastes, depending on their nature and source. If diluting the intensity of odor is not sufficient, then the operator shall immediately cover offensive materials as soon as they arrive at the landfill. (3) The operator shall ensure that loading, unloading, and material handling activities are carried out efficiently and without delays to avoid excessive odors.
