i'
i
The following mitigation measures will mitigate these impacts to below a level of significance.
Mitigation Measures (Impact F.5):
Implement Mitigation Measures F 1.and F3.
Facts in Support of the Finding:
The potential for impacts from removal of bird habitat is discussed in Section III.F of the EIR.
The mitigation measures designed for mitigation of impacts on Swainson's hawk habitat and the
North Branch of the South Fork of Little Johns Creek and its wetland areas would also mitigate
impacts on habitat of the California horned lark,mountain plover,northern loggerhead shrike and
northern harrier.
E Night Lighting at Project Site
Potential Significant Impact(F.6):
Implementation of the proposed project would continue or slightly increase existing levels of
' night lighting of the site.
Finding:
G Based upon the analysis in the EIR,minimization of the use of nighttime lighting will make
impacts on nocturnal wildlife species less than significant.
j, The following mitigation measure will mitigate these impacts to below a level of significance.
Mitigation Measure(Impact F.6):
E
(a) The project proponent shall minimize the use of lighting at night.If night lighting is
required, sodium lamps with sharp cutoff angles are recommended to focus light in active
landfill areas (target areas) and to avoid nighttime lighting of adjacent open areas and
valley oak trees. Such lighting often discourages presence of nocturnal wildlife species
(e.g., owls, mice)as it renders prey species more susceptible to predation.
Facts in Support of the Finding:
The potential for impacts from night lighting at the project site is discussed in Section III.F of the
EIR. Given existing levels of on-site human activity and disturbance,increased night lighting,
which would be reduced by the measure above, is not considered a significant impact on
nocturnal wildlife species.
' I
29
