Facts in Support of the Finding:
The potential for hazards from spills,collisions,upsets, or other accidents is discussed in Section
III.L of the EIR. The measures above are designed to mitigate the impacts resulting from spills or
other accidents.
d.Explosion Potential from Additional Landfill Gas Generation
Potential Significant Impact(L.4):
Additional landfill gas would be generated,thus increasing the potential for explosion hazards.
Finding.
Based upon the analysis in the EIR, a landfill gas monitoring system, landfill gas extraction
system, landfill gas control or recovery system,monitoring of gas in and under structures,
installation of an automatic combustible gas detection and alarm system for structures,avoidance
of locating structures in areas of known landfill gas buildup,and training of site personnel will
make the explosion potential from additional landfill gas generation less than significant.
The following mitigation measures will mitigate these impacts to below a level of significance.
Mitigation Measures(Impact L.9):
c.
(a)A landfill gas monitoring system would be installed around the landfill.
(b) The existing gas extraction system would continue to operate.
i.
(c)A landfill gas control or recovery system would be installed.
.l
(d) Gas accumulations in on-site buildings or beneath temporary buildings shall be
prevented by regular monitoring.
I
J
(e) The landfill operator shall install an automatic combustible gas detection and alarm ,
system for structures at the site.
(fl The landfill operator shall not construct or otherwise locate any structure in an area
of known landfill gas buildup.
(g)All site personnel who work in structures shall be trained to use and respond to
landfill gas monitoring and alarm system.
Facts in Support of the Finding.
The potential for explosion potential from additional landfill gas generation is discussed in
Section III.L of the EIR.
