5.7 cultural Resources
Appendix 11. 4 is a September 14, 1993 letter from the Central
California Information Center at the Department of Anthropology,
California State University, Turlock, regarding a records isearch
for cultural resources in and adjacent to the proposed permit
area. As indicated in the letter, no records of any cultural
resources in and within 1 mile of the proposed project were found.
Appendix 11. 5 is a November 1, 1993 letter from Archaeologi-
cal Services, Inc. of Stockton, regarding their observations
during an October 28, 1993, site visit. As indicated in Archaeo-
logical Services' letter, cultural resources are present within
the permit area. No prehistoric resources were identified in
their cursory walkover, but historic resources such as mining and
ranching remains were observed. If required by the County Com-
munity Development Department, KRC will perform a more detailed
E cultural resources survey of the proposed permit area.
Any cultural resources identified in this survey will be
recorded and managed in accordance with County Community Develop-
r.. ment Department requirements. Archaeological Services, Inc.
h estimates that mitigation will probably be limited to recording
and documentation. Areas containing cultural resources will not
be disturbed by any quarry activities until the cultural resourc-
es are mitigated to the satisfaction of the County Community
Development Department.
5.8 Socioeconomics
The proposed addition to KRC's permit area will provide KRC
with additional areas to mine and will extend the life of the
facility. Annual production is expected to remain similarto
that already approved in Conditional Use Permit QX-86-1. There-
fore, employment is expected to remain about the same as present
and socioeconomic impacts will be about the same as those caused
by the existing operation. Population, housing, direct and
indirect employment and revenues are not expected to be impacted
by the additional acreage proposed in this permit extension. The
positive impacts of KRC' s operations on employment, revenues and
the economic health of the area are expected to continue as a
result of the additional quarry acreage proposed in this project
extension.
KRC Aggregate, Inc.
f - 9 -- April 1, 1994
