File No. 20-2921-01 KLEINFELDER
March 25, 1992
ITEMS C-1 AND C-4'
"The intensity and extent of the existing and the proposed
development on septic tanks within and around the area;" (C-1) .
"The history of past uses in the project area to assess potential
problems;" (C-4) :
Reference is made to Plate I of this report which shows the
location of the proposed subdivision. The northern
approximate seventeen lots of the proposed subdivision were
covered by moderate to relatively high weeds and grasses,
with the exception of Lots 4 and 5 where an existing
residence and separate garage were present. The southern
approximate twenty lots contained a wheat crop, with no
structures present. The area surrounding the proposed
subdivision site contains orchards and agricultural land with
scattered residences.
Between February 27 and March 9, 1992, a representative of
our firm visited four residences located at the approximate
locations indicated on Plate I. The purpose of the visits
was to obtain information on septic system use and problems
with this method of sewage disposal and to sample their
domestic wells for use in nitrate content testing. Residents
questioned at three of the locations visited reported having
no problems with the performance of their septic systems.
All three residents questioned indicated that their water was
of "good" quality. No one was home at the remaining
residence.
i ITEM C-2:
r "The suitability of the soil for development utilizing septic
systems;"
On March 12, 1992, representatives of our firm drilled and
set-up one approximate 3-, 8- and 15-foot deep percolation
test holes un ix: of}. th thi_ seven.,proposed. lots at the
.-.T.
approximate locations indicated on Plate i."The test holes
were drilled with a truck-mounted drill rig equipped with 6-
inch diameter, continuous-flight augers. The test holes were filled with relatively
clean water the day before testing and left to soak
overnight.
On March 17, 18 and 19, 1992, our representative returned to
the site to perform the percolation tests. Two lots were
tested on each of the three days. As per San Joaquin County
guidelines, the tests were performed for a period of four
t Copyright 1992 Kleinfelder, Inc.
