According to the San Joaquin County Community Development Department
(www.co.san-joaquin.ca.us), the Site is zoned AL-10, limited agriculture with a minimum
parcel size of 10 acres. This zoning designation "is established to recognize and
preserve areas that contain existing concentrations of small-scale agricultural
operations and dwellings."
Existing and Proposed Septic Tank Usage
Existing Septic System
No septic systems currently exist on the Site.
Proposed Septic System
According to the site plan (Plate 2), the office of the walnut processing facility will utilize
a new septic system to serve a restroom.
On-Site Septic Permit History
During a record review, one septic system destruction permit was found for the Site at
the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department. The permit, dated July
2011, was for destruction of the septic tank which served the former residence.
Two additional permits were identified for the Site address; it is unclear whether the
structures to which the permits refer were located on the current Site:
• February 1963 permit for new septic system to serve fruit stand.
• January 1968 permit for new septic system to serve mobile home.
No septic repair permits were identified. One permit related to an irrigation water well
was identified for the Site. All permits for the property are attached in Appendix 4.
Existing Septic Tank Usage in the Vicinity
To estimate the existing septic system usage in the area, Live Oak counted septic
systems that exist approximately one square mile surrounding the property. Recent air
photo imagery from GoogleEarthTM was used. Each building cluster on the photo was
assumed to have one septic system. Using this method, it is estimated that a minimum
of 41 septic systems per square mile exist in the immediate vicinity of the Site.
The general area consists of orchards, agricultural land, and rural residential properties.
LOGE 1123 Page 2
