Indications of Polychlorinated Biphenyl (PCB)
During the Site drive/walk-through, the Site was inspected for the presence of liquid-
cooled electrical units (transformers and capacitors). Such units are possible concern
because they may be potential polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) sources. IMFC observed
no transformer on-Site. Several new pad-mounted transformers are located within the
` vicinity of the Site to the south.
- B-6. Adjacent Land Use
IMFC performed a limited visual observation of the surrounding sites in an attempt to
identify areas of potential risk to the Site resulting from adjacent site activities.
_ Observations of surrounding sites were limited to accessible areas and areas that could be
readily observed from the Site. The areas within the vicinity of the Site are or were all
agricultural. The areas to the west of the Site are a part of the Mountain House Master
plan and are currently being converted to residential development. Most of the
infrastructures are in-place at that portion of the Development. The areas to the south of
the Site are designated for a community park. A relatively large construction staging area
containing large trees is located to the east of the Site. Several fields of wind-generated
power with high-voltage transmission line are located to the southwest of the Site. Also,
an abandoned dairy farm is located approximately 3/4-mile south of the Site.
C. SITE HISTORY REVIEW
IMFC performed a site history review to identify the former uses of the Site. The site
history survey consisted of a review of aerial photographs, and review of available site-
specific as well as regional reports.
C-1. Aerial Photographs
Readily available aerial photographs of the Site vicinity were reviewed to assess the
historical land uses that could have been sources of potentially hazardous materials.
r.
