The design of the new
storage area has entrance and exit doors that will decrease the need for backing-up by the forklift
trucks. Inside the cold storage facilities, the beeping noise from the forklift trucks will be muted
by the wags of the building. The unloading area for the packed fruit storage is located in the
middle of the site, and noise from the trucks will be buffered by the structures on the site. The
nearest residence to the controlled atmosphere storage loading area is approximately goo feet
to the west, with an orchard separating the site and the residence.
Dra e:
Storm drainage shall be retained on the site, and provisions for such are required to be shown
on the Improvement Plan that is submitted and approved by the Development Services Division.
The applicant is.required to submit a report of waste discharge to the California Regional Water
Quality Control Board, Central Valley Region. Any discharge of processed water from the
development must meet the standards of the Environmental.Health Division.
Water Use:
Approximately seven acres of orchard will be taken out of irrigation for this project. An estimate
of the current water usage for seven.acres, using the Consumptive.Water Use Chart from the
University of California Cooperative Extension, is approximately 7,223,000 gallons per year. Any
Increased water usage would be minimal compared to the current use for irrigation. The applicant
stated that the new cold storage facilties will be using recycled water to defrost the refrigeration
coils.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONSIDERATIONS:
The Initial Study prepared for this project did not identify any significant impacts that the proposed project.
may have upon the environment. Based on the Initial Study, a Negative Declaration has been prepared.
In addition, a Certificate of Fee Exemption with a"DeMinimis Impact Finding' has been prepared which
states that the project will not have an adverse effect on wildlife resources.
