' February 15, 1993
D
San Joaquin County Planning Division FEB 16 1993
1810 East Hazelton
Stockton, CA 95205 WMMUNI YUEYt#.uemiNToE'T.
PLANNING DIVISION
Contact Person: Loree Goold
This letter is in response to Application No . 's, SA-93-003 and
SA-93-0004, H. Foppiano/R. Chinchiolo , applications for a 36
acre "packing shed and cold. storage" development. ,
The entire North end of this development borders our 20 acre
farm. This property has been in the same family and farmed
for approximately 80 years. We recently applied with the plann—
ing department to adjust a lot line on an existing parcel to
create a two acre homesite. We want to build a home to better
accommodate our family of six. We have spent approximately
$18,000 just on application fees, permits, etc. , to achieve this
dream. This new development will now decrease our property
value.
And now we are faced with these huge cold storage buildings,
parking lotst loud speakers, continuous operation throughout
the night, and more traffic problems created by this development.
Double trailers, .18 .wheelers,- tractors, etc. , .are a fact`.of
life for Jack Tone Road and so are many traffic accidents involving
many deaths. These will increase with this 1.59,000 square foot
addition. Traffic on .Jack Tone Road travels. at -freeway speeds
and faster.
We also rely on private wells for our water and wonder about
the impact on the water table as well as possible contamination
of our water, which we have just read about in regards to a
pickle plant and the residents around Carpenter Road. Who will
be accountable to us if a problem arises , the planning department
who approves this development or Sierra Hills .
We hope that this project will be seriously studied and the
impact on our rural life will be taken into consideration. We
realize this is a convenient site for Sierra Hills because
of their existing plant, but we know they can locate a more
suitable site in an industrial area, where this development
really belongs.
Respectfully sub ed_by,
L Casale ch
Louis Casale, Jr. and Eugene Casale -
4935 N Jack Tone Road
Stockton, CA 95215
209-931-6337
