June 1, 1999
Kerry Sullivan
SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT
1310 East Hazelton Avenue
Stockton, CA 95205
Dear Ms. Sullivan:
I am writing in opposition to the proposed Farm Labor Camp, Application #UP-98-18, at 16450 E.
Harney Lane, Lodi.
My concerns remain the same as the original proposal. Putting 400 single adults in one camp, be
they farm laborers, farmers, postal employees or any other group, is too large for any housing
development to be placed in our rural neighborhood. This becomes a town larger than Clements.
I have two teenage daughters living at home. The thought of 400 single adults (males,
realistically) 800 yards away is quite a concern. What security plan insures the safety, well-
being and quiet living conditionsin this rural community? That was one of the questions posed to
Mr. Rios at the Board of Supervisors meeting that was to be satisfactorily addressed before
recommendation. There are over 100 families that live in close proximity to this housing
development of single adults. There has been no contact with the community regarding this major
issue from the Rios camp.
Again, the water table and sewage treatment have not been adequately or satisfactorily
addressed in this proposal.
I do not oppose the need for farm labor housing in San Joaquin County. However, the size and
placement of this type of housing development is TOO large for my family and our neighbors'
families to be forced to accept.
Sincerely,
ndy Hn
12665 N. Tully Rd.
Lodi, CA 95240
