23 September 2005
AGE-NC Project No. 05-1330
The Modesto, Riverbank and Turlock Lake Formations and overlying Recent alluvium are the
principal source of domestic ground water in the 13,500 square-mile San Joaquin Valley Ground
Water Basin (Basin 5-22). This basin is drained primarily by the San Joaquin River. The nearest
surface water feature was the Mormon Slough, approximately 3,000 feet to the south, and the
Stockton Diverting Canal, approximately one mile to the northeast.
The estimated depth to ground water at the subject property is approximately 50 to 60 feet below
surface grade (bsg), based on the map titled Lines of Equal Depth to Groundwater, Spring 1999
published by the San Joaquin County Flood Control District and Water Conservation District
(FCD&WCD).Itis inferred from the map titled Lines ofEqual Elevation of Groundwater, Fall 1999,
also published by the FCD&WCD,that the local groundwater flow direction is unclear on the subject
property. Ground water is considered to be of beneficial use and is utilized for domestic, industrial
and commercial purposes.
The prevailing ground water flow direction in Stockton generally ranges from northeast to east, but
this may be greatly modified by local recharge and discharge patterns.Ground water monitoring data
taken from the Morley Cooling Tower site approximately 3,000 feet to the north noted a ground water
flow direction to the south, and monitoring data taken from Beacon 4474, 3440 East Main Street„
approximately 2,360 feet to the southwest noted a depth to ground water of approximately 60 feet bsg
and a flow direction to the northeast to east.
The EDR Report Overview and Detail Maps, provided on Pages 2 and 3 respectively, showed the
subject property located in a 500-year Flood Zone. This data, available in select counties across the
country,was obtained by EDR in 1999 from the Federal Emergency Management Agency(FEMA);
the data depicts 100-year and 500-year flood zones as defined by FEMA.
The EDR Report Overview and Detail Maps, provided on Pages 2 and 3 respectively, did not show
` the subject property listed in the National Wetlands Inventory. This data, available in select counties
across the country, was obtained by EDR in 2002 from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
4.0. HISTORICAL USE
The history of the subject site from as early as 1910 to present was researched by reviewing aerial
photographs, topographic maps, San Joaquin County Assessor's Office records and a personal
interview. Based on available information, subject property use appears to have been residential for
at least at least 95 years. The Assessors Office notes that the property parcel formerly included two
residences, one small house/cabin fronting on Adelbert Avenue(625 South Adelbert Avenue), was
moved onto the property in approximately 1910 and demolished in 1993; one small house and
` shed/tool house fronting on Horner Avenue (4175 Horner Avenue), were constructed in
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
