The adjacent properties to the east, southeast past Mormon Slough, and west are agricultural fields and orchards. The northwestern adjacent property (portions of APNs 173-210-05, -06, and—07) located south of East Main Street has a small farm complex. The adjacent southern property (south of the slough) is shown to be undeveloped acreage. The 1952 photograph shows a farm complex added to the northwestern comer of the adjoining eastern property. A street was added to the northern adjoining properties, and to the southern adjoining properties, some of the land appears to have been planted with orchards and a building is shown on the northeastern side of these properties. The southwestern adjoining properties appear to be a residential development. In the 1963 photograph, the southwestern and northern properties appear more fully developed with housing. No apparent changes are noted in the 1975 or 1983 photographs with the exception of an additional building on the southern adjacent property, bringing the total number of buildings to three. The 1998 photograph shows two streets and 11 new residences located ` on the western adjoining properties. There are no apparent changes in the 2000 photograph. USGS topographic maps dating from 1952, 1968, 1976, and 1987 were reviewed. Urban development ` with city blocks is indicated north of East Main Street on the 1952 map. The northeastern property appears to be agricultural. The adjoining eastern and southern (across Mormon Slough) properties are indicated as orchards: the eastern property has a structure indicated on it. To the southwest is a road with dwellings indicated along its western side. North of the Site and south of East Main Street are two structures. The only changes noted on the 1968 map are the removal of one of the buildings on the adjacent northern property and the indication of urban development on the southwestern adjoining properties.The orchard symbols have been removed on the 1976. No other changes are noted on the 1987 maps. The Polk City Directories from 1962 through 2001 were used to research the area properties for the type of service or use provided. The 2002 Haines Criss + Cross directory was also used to research the area properties. A summary of the use information is listed in Table 2, on the next page. ` w Nk-rw' it CONDOR
