V Phase I Environmental Site Assessment
East Main Street,Stockton,California
December 10,2004
Page 14
L
Near-surface sedimentary deposits underlying the Site consist of arkosic alluvium deposits belonging to
the Modesto Formation. These arkosic sediments are derived primarily from rocks of the Sierra Nevada
6. Range. The United States Department of Agriculture mapped two soil types at the Site. These are Galt-
Urban land and the Stockton silty clay loam, 0 to 2 percent slopes. The Site is located along the southern
edge of the inactive Stockton Fault, which has had no displacement for approximately two million years.
The Site is shown on Figures 1 through 3 contained in Appendix A.
5.3 EXTERIOR OBSERVATIONS
The Site is currently fallow agricultural land with north/south trending dirt roads located between parcels
173-210-06 and 07 and along the western and eastern Site boundaries, and an east-west trending dirt road , /i
along the southern Site boundary at the top of the bank of Mormon Channel. East Main Street is a paved,
four-lane road, which is the eastern half of the northern Site boundary. Subsurface irrigation piping is
located on all of the parcels. Transformer-bearing utility
poles are also located in close proximity to the wells. One of the transformers located along the western C33 J
portion of the northern boundary of the Site (APN 173-210-05) is not labeled non-PCB containing. No
signs of leakage were noted on the transformer or on the soil beneath. Telephone and electrical cables are
located overhead along the south side of E. Main Street. Several piles of vegetative debris are located
along the southern Site boundary, at the top of the bank of Mormon Channel. A discarded sedan is located
at the south end of the dirt road between parcels 06 and 07. No municipal (potable) water or sewer
services are located on the Site.Photographs of the Site are contained in Appendix E.
The following items were not observed at the Site during the Site reconnaissance unless otherwise noted.
1. Source of potable water
L 2. Sewage disposal
3. Hazardous substances and petroleum products in connection with identified uses
4. Storage tanks
i 5. Odors
6.
