October 31,2005
NOA Project Number: E05132-A
I AL9 Phase I Envitonmemal Site Assessment
L
NOA prepared a Phase I Environmental Site Assessment(Phase I)on the subject property for Kimball
I Hill Homes of Elk Grove concurrently with the preparation of this report The Phase I identified two
6 additional sources of contamination not identified by the scope of this investigation:
I The subject property address of 5055 East Main Street appears on the HIST UST database of
L historical underground storage tanks for a 550-gallon regular gasoline tank installed by Victor
Rolleri in 1957.
LMarley Cooling Tower Company, located approximately one-half mile north-northwest of the
subject property, has contaminated groundwater in the area with total chromium and hexavalent
chromium. According to Dudek& Associates, hexavalent chromium has been detected in a
L monitoring well located in the Main Street roadway directly south of the subject property at 9.5
parts per billion (ppb) and in a domestic well to the south of this at 1.4 ppb during the most
recent sampling event.13
3.2 Past On-Site Sources of Contamination
L. No potential above- or below-ground on-site potential or known sources of contamination were
identified from past uses of the site, except for the following.
LAgricultural chemicals have likely been applied to the subject property. Chemical residues may
remain in on-site soils.
LStructures were located in the northern third of the subject property from pre-1914 through the
late 1940s. Structures were located in the southeast corner of the subject property from pre-
1914 through the late 1950s.
3.3 Current On-Site Sources of Contamination
I.. No above-or below-ground on-site potential or known sources of contamination were identified from
current uses of the site, except for the following:
ti. Three drums not located within secondary containment, likely containing waste oil, were
observed on the property.
L, • Miscellaneous debris, including farming equipment and approximately 30 mostly empty
chemical buckets, is located in and around the barn on the subject property. The ground
surface is obscured by debris in places.
Ir
13Dudek&Associates,Inc.,2005,Semi-Annual Groundwater Monitoring and Performance Monitoring,Marley
1 Cooling Technologies Remedial Wellfield,Stockton,California.
10
V
