Photographs of the
Site are attached to this report as Appendix 2. The site visit was limited by seasonal
vegetation obscuring much of the ground surface. The ground was also wet at the time,
limiting the observation of any staining to the soil.
The Site consists .of open field with .a rural residence, garage, .barn, and storage shed.
One domestic well and one septic system serve the residence. An irrigation well is
located adjacent to the domestic well. Animal enclosures are present to the north of the
barn, evidence of the past use of the Site as a small dairy. A paved road is located just
to the west of the Site; this road is used to access the structures on the Site.
Equipment and some debris were observed in the vicinity of the barn, including wood
and three tractor tires. One drum was observed near the storage shed; Mr. Dixon
indicated the drum was empty other than .rain water. Several buckets were observed
near the barn and inside the shed.
Two pole-mounted transformers were observed near the wells. Although no labels were
observed indicating the transformers to be PCB (polychlorinated biphenyl)-free, the
transformers appeared undamaged and relatively new.
The adjacent land consists of open fields. A rural residence is located to the south,
across Jahant Road.
5.0 INTERVIEWS
x/5.1 Interview with Property Owners
Tom Dixon was interviewed by telephone on February 97, 2090. He indicated that he
purchased the property in January 2009. The former owners, the Bells, owned it
approximately 30 years. Mr. Dixon indicated that his son is currently living in the house.
He is not farming the property and has not applied, mixed, or stored chemicals on it. He
was not aware of any past uses of the Site other than as a small dairy, most likely
ending operation in the 1960s. Mr. Dixon stated that the house on the Site dates to
around 1910; the two.wells and septic system are old, but he did not know their dates of
construction.
Mr.Dixon indicated that he has.not encountered any fuel tanks, chemical storage areas,
trash pits, or other environmental hazards on the Site, and he was not aware of any
LOGE1004 Page 3
