San Joaquin County Community Alternatives Analysis <br /> Development Department <br /> ■ Production: Provide for a total permitted production level of up to 20 <br /> million cubic yards(30 million tons)with sequencing broken into different <br /> mining stages depending on geology,terrain,current technological _ <br /> capabilities,and the intent to incorporate the visual screening provided by the <br /> existing terrain. <br /> ■ Employment: Provide on-site staffing of between 5 and 10 employees — <br /> through the production life of the mine. Two shifts could be employed when <br /> special night operations are needed,and three to five workers would be <br /> added to the labor force. <br /> ■ Site conservation: Avoid sensitive natural resources; minimize aesthetic <br /> impacts through site design, staging, and concurrent reclamation; and <br /> implement reclamation concurrently with mining operations throughout the — <br /> life of the mine to return the site to a productive postmining agricultural land <br /> use. <br /> Alternatives Development <br /> Overview of Development Process <br /> The County's process for developing the range of alternatives considered in this <br /> EIR involved identifying alternatives that would meet the Project objectives but <br /> reduce or eliminate significant impacts caused by the proposed Project.
