The —
County has indicated that this interchange and associated SR-132 highway improvements will need to be
in-place before aggregate production in the Vernalis area can be expanded over current levels. Because
aggregate production levels can not be increased without these improvements, the year 2007 traffic —
forecasts and resulting traffic operations presented in the "Existing and Forecasted Study Area Traffic
Volumes and Resulting Traffic Operations" technical memorandum (prepared in support of the
interchange project)is assumed to represent short-term existing conditions.
Year 2007 base traffic forecasts for SR-132 were developed using a yearly growth rate (provided by
Caltrans) of 3.34-percent per year (compound growth). Based on information provided by the aggregate —
producers, study area aggregate sites are estimated to produce up to 5,600,000 tons per year by or just
after the year 2007. (The proposed project was not assumed to be in production by the year 2007 and
the start-up production estimate of 500,000 tons was not included in the above year 2007 yearly
production estimate.) Based on 250 production days per year and 25 tons of material per truck, Table 10
shows that this production would result in an average of 896 truck loads a day and 1,792 two-way truck
trips per day.
TABLE 10
VERNALIS AREA AGGREGATE PRODUCTION SITES
YEAR 2007 BASE AVERAGE DAILY TRUCK TRIP GENERATION
Average Daily Truck
Average Yearly Average.Yearly Average Daily Loads Average Daily 2-Way
Production Tons Production Days Production(Tuns) 25 Tons ruck) Truck Trips
5,600,000 250 22,400 896 1,792 _
The peak daily truck generation was estimated based on 40% more production occurring during peak
production months with the results shown in Table 11. As shown in the table, 1,254 truck loads would be
produced on a peak production day resulting in 2,508 two-way truck trips per day.
TABLE I1 —
VERNALIS AREA AGGREGATE PRODUCTION SITES
YEAR 2007 BASE PEAK DAILY TRUCK TRIP GENERATION
Average Daily Truck
Average Yearly Loads Peak Daily Peak Daily Peak Daily 2-Way -
Production(Tons) (25 Tons/Truck) Adjustment Factor Truck Loads Truck Trips
5,600.000 896 1.4 1 1,254 1 2,508
2"Draft DeSilva Gates Quarry Trafc&Circulation Analysis 16 October 2005
Jones&Stokes (R90577S002/25-4000-02)
