We stated "Reclamation feels that the integrity of our facility may
be at risk and the potential for failure of the Canal exist if the proposed
project is approved as proposed". We outlined a number of reeommeridations
and/or requirements that we felt would best serve to protect the system from
Canal embankment failure and possible rupture.
1 `
We are enclosing for your reference, and in response to your request for
Written comments on the DEIR, a copy of our September 1992 letter. Reclama-
tion feels our prior comments are still relevant. We feel it is important for
Granite construction to address these vary crucial issues concerning impacts
on the Delta-Mendota Canal and liability concerns, issuer we feel were not
adequately addressed by the DEIR.
If you have any questions, please contact Sharon Past& of my staff at (209)
636-6238.
Sincerely,
Walter D.
