In the 2007 photo, it appears that vineyard is being removed in the northern half of the
Site. The adjacent property to the west appears to be a vineyard. The Site and
surroundings otherwise appear similar to the previous photo.
These photos are included in Appendix 3 of this report.
4.0 SITE INSPECTION
Abigail Racco of Live Oak inspected the site on December 13, 2010. Photographs of
the Site are attached to this report as Appendix 2. The interiors of the structures were
not inspected. The ground surface was wet from recent rains at the time of the visit.
The Site consists of low hills planted with a young vineyard. A shop building, an office,
a residence, and a storage container are located in the southeast corner. Three field
roads cross the Site.
Two above-ground fuel storage tanks were located to the north of the shop building.
These were labeled as containing gasoline and diesel; the gasoline tank was located
within secondary containment. Three mobile tanks were also noted in the area, one for
diesel, one for boron fertilizer, and one apparently for agricultural chemicals. A surface
soil stain less than one foot in diameter was noted near the mobile tanks; the stain did
not appear to extend more than one inch below the ground surface. Observation of soil C 1
stains was limited by the moist soil surface.
The domestic well which serves the residence was observed to the east of the office
building.
The irrigation well is located in the vineyard near the center of the south side of the ✓
+ property. Minor soil staining from oil was observed at the well head. Two 55-gallon 6,3)
:plastic drums were noted by the well; one contained phosphoric acid for the drip
irrigation system, and the other appeared to be a trash barrel. No staining was (4, 6
observed near the drums.
Five pole-mounted transformers were observed on the Site. Three transformers were
located near the former irrigation well on the eastern field road. They appeared
somewhat old but clean and unstained; no blue sticker was noted to indicate that they
are free of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs). One transformer was observed along
Liberty Road to the south of the shop building; it was labeled PCB-free. The final
transformer was observed near the existing irrigation well; it was also labeled PCB-free.
The adjacent land to the north and east is pasture. To the west is vineyard with a rural
residence. To the south is Liberty Road, followed by pasture land. To the southeast is
a commercial nursery.
LOGE1033 Page 3
