Surface&Subsurface Contamination Report Page 3
700 W.Lions Rd.,Tracy
Project No. 662.1
February 11,2013
obvious staining or unusual odors were noted that would be suggestive of a hazardous
release.
• Immediately adjacent to the south side of the pesticide shed is a large aboveground
diesel tank estimated at 10,000 gallons capacity. Shallow soil in the immediate
vicinity of the dispenser pump exudes a diesel odor, but this extends less than a foot
into the subsurface.
• Situated near one of the equipment sheds is a domestic water production well:\ This
appears to be a replacement for an older well that was located in the pump house.
See the maps art Appendix A and photos in Appendix B for graphical representations.
Past Use of Property
The past use of the Property has been entirely agricultural. Historical air photos (Appendix
C) dating back to 1937 show it has always been used to raise hay, grain, or row crops or as
pasture land.
As a part of this investigation, EDR was contracted to perform a search of State and Federal
electronic environmental databases for an area around the subject Property (see Section 3.1
and Appendix D). The Property was identified as the site of three natural gas wells drilled in
1970 as described above. The Property is also identified as the site of 4 former underground
gasoline tanks operated by Robert Bogetti. According to County records, there were actually
3 tanks. One of the tanks reportedly leaked, but a remedial investigation was completed and
was officially closed. State records indicate the leak was discovered in 1997 and the ,
investigation was closed in 1999. According to the EDR report Paulson Farms also operated
up to 12 tanks on the Property, but county records do not confine this. It appears likely the
EDR report is in error on this point.
Environmental Conditions Impacting Site from Off Site Properties
Several adjacent or nearby or adjacent farm parcels were identified in the EDR database
report as facilities that operated permitted underground fuel tanks, but none of the sites have
reported a hazardous release. Sites of such tanks are identified as 1777 W. Linne, 28855 S.
Koster, 1560 W. Linne, and 29141 S. Koster. A site at 1660 W. Linne reported a surface
release of fuel. The release was investigated, adequately mitigated, and officially closed.
Several nearby natural gas production wells are also identified by the EDR report.
Based on the results of the EDR report, it was not deemed necessary to further investigate
off-site facilities.
Conclusions
2937 Veneman Ave.,#11240 Geo-Phase Environmental Inc.
