Good commercial and customary practice for conducting a <br /> Surface/Subsurface Contamination Report for a parcel of property is to identify recognized <br /> environmental conditions. According to ASTM Standard E 1527 - 00/paragraph 1.1.1, the term <br /> recognized environmental conditions means "...the presence or likely presence of any hazardous <br /> �. substances or petroleum products on a property under conditions that indicate an existing release, a <br /> past release, or a material threat of a release of any hazardous substances or petroleum products into <br /> structures on the property or into the ground, groundwater, or surface water of the property." <br /> This Surface/Subsurface Contamination Report discusses all work performed by NOA to date with <br /> regard to this project. The principal findings are outlined throughout the body of this text and are <br /> summarized in the conclusion of this report. <br /> This report has been formatted to correspond to the San Joaquin County Environmental Health <br /> " Department's Surface and Subsurface Contamination Report Requirement Checklist, dated July 14, <br /> 2003. <br /> 1.0 INTRODUCTION AND PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT <br /> 1.1 Description of Site <br /> The subject property is located at 28567 East Highway 120, Escalon, California. The property, <br /> Assessor's Parcel Number 229-170-37, is located at the northeast corner of State Highway 120 and <br /> Steinegul Road and is approximately 1.5 miles east of Escalon. The subject property is a 39.45-acre, <br /> square parcel. The western half of the parcel houses an out-of service dairy,a residence,and a mobile <br /> home. The eastern half is agricultural land used for oat and corn farming. Surrounding properties <br /> are used as orchards and for oat and corn farming. Residences are scattered around the subject <br /> property, particularly to the west. <br /> According to the San Joaquin County Community Development Department web site, the subject <br /> property is zoned AL, limited agriculture. Further information regarding this zone is provided in <br /> Appendix G. <br /> Location maps of the subject property are attached to this report as Appendix A.
