Settled solids consisting of clays and silts will periodically
be removed from the settling ponds and stockpiled for eventual
use in lining the final pit during the reclamation process .
Water from the ponds will be recycled through the washing screen
plant .
Some materials are anticipated to consist of sand sufficiently
clean as to be shipped directly from the site without any
preprocessing.
An alternative method of mining under investigation would
utilize a floating suction dredge . Sand would be excavated
beneath a water surface and conveyed by pumping directly to the
washing screen plant . In addition to separating the clays and
silts from the sand, the product will be dewatered . Screen
underfloor will report to the settling ponds as described before,
and the water recycled through the flooded mining pit .
4.4 Description of Facilities :
No permanent facilities will be constructed for the quarrying
operation . Structures will be limited to a temporary portable
office and equipment maintenance shed .
The office will be a commercially available trailer unit . The
equipment maintenance shed will likely be a recycled shipping
container .
All sanitary sewage use will be in Self Contained Trailer Units,
serviced by a Sanitary Contractor .
Porta Pot units owned and serviced by a Sanitary Contractor will
be strategically placed and serviced on a regular basis and
affluent removed to legal areas by the Sanitary Contractor
4 . 4. 1 Plant - The washing plant is to be located southwest of
the quarry near the stockpile locations . The plant will consist
only of a receiving hopper , a screen feeding conveyor , an
electrically powered wet vibrating screen , and a product
stacking conveyor . The temporary buildings are a self-contained
portable office, a maintenance container and a trailer storage,
shower and bathrooms .
