'1 .
Soil Suitability Study—APN: 005- 141 —29—PA-0300587
Parcel No. 1,Approximately 2.0 Acres Total
2.0 Percolation Tests Preparation Protocol: All drilling of test holes on this single
parcel property was accomplished on December 12, 2003. An eight(8) inch diameter
shallow percolation test hole was excavated with hand-operated equipment and a drill rig
under my direction drilled a four(4) inch diameter deep percolation test hole. The
shallow percolation test hole was excavated to a maximum depth of thirty-three (33)
inches. The deep percolation test hole was drilled to a maximum depth of 17.3 feet below
the ground surface and was utilized as both a percolation test hole and a Soil Profile test
hole.
The percolation test holes were tested after excavating and drilling in between two
rainy periods. Two days were required to perform the shallow and deep percolation tests
on the subject property. One day was needed to prepare, score the test hole sidewalls and
presoak the test hole and was accomplished on December 16, 2003. Water level readings
to determine the soil's percolation rate were conducted on December 17, 2003.
Presoaking operations consisted of adding two(2) inches of gravel to the bottom
of the shallow and deep percolation test holes and adding twelve (12) inches of water to
be left in the test holes to soak over-night.
3.0 Percolation Test Conditions, Measurements and Reporting: All percolation tests
were performed in conformance with San Joaquin County Development Chapter 9-1105,
Section 9-1105.2 and San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department Policy for
Percolation Procedure 98-01.
The specific test procedures adhered to in performing all of the percolation tests
are listed on the "Percolation Test Details" sheets attached to this study and are in
conformance with the Environmental Health Department's Policy for Percolation Test
Procedure,Policy Number 02-02, effective April 25, 2002. Since the subject property is
in a Red-Zone Area established by the San Joaquin County Health Department, both
shallow and deep percolation tests were conducted.
After preparing and presoaking the test holes, the percolation rates were
determined which consisted of noting and recording the amount of sloughing that may
have occurred during the over-night soaking process and the amount of water retained in
the percolation test holes after the over-night soaking. Water was then applied as needed
and the water level drop readings taken at specified intervals to determine the percolation
rate of the soil in conformance with the Environmental Health Department's Policy For
Percolation Test Procedure Policy No. 02-02 effective April 25, 2002. Procedure 1 was
employed in determining the percolation rate for the shallow percolation test hole (S 1).
Procedures 2 and 3 were employed in determining the percolation rate for the deep
percolation test hole(D 1)
The reference point used to determine the final percolation rate for both the
shallow and deep percolation test four(4)parcels consisted of the upper edge of a small
portion of a lath. The Percolation Test Holes were covered during the overnight soaking
For MatriScope Inc.-25655 North State Highway Rte 99,West Frontage Road, Acampo,CA 95220 3
