Contaminates: George Reed, Inc. states contaminates are not used during the excavation
process. What about the equipment used? They leak oil, fuel, antifreeze Qethal to animals) and
hydraulic fluids. No matter how much the equipment is inspected and/or maintained each day
there will always be something leaking (Murphy's law) With these leaks comes contamination
to the ground and the existing water table. This water table feeds many private wells in the area.
With no Escalon City water service in the area, residents as well as the Cemetery rely on their
own wells for drinking water George Reed Inc. also states the water table located at a depth of
50 feet. This water table they state will not be penetrated, but they will come very close during
their excavation, according to their site plans submitted for approval.
Excavation hours George Reed, Inc states their hours of operation are from 7:00 am to 4:00
pm. There are many times their equipment at the existing processing plant can be heard starting
at 5:00 am and late into the night There are also times they are working on Saturday. So it
seems their hours of operation are not as they say.
At this time we want to thank you for taking the time to read our concerns regarding the
proposed quarry. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to call (209) 838-2924.
Sincerely,
--
Chai Larry Swanson
i
bard Member, Lore eid
and Member, Bill Broome
anager, Jim Semone
2
