One of the most revered aspects of the area is its
rural, agricultural location. It is far removed from the hustle and bustle of town and the accompanying
noise and traffic. I am concerned that this winery will be bringing these things to my peaceful
neighborhood.
The noise generated by winery marketing events is not something that I am accustomed to, living in the
countryside. When there is nothing but vines between your home and the winery that neighbors you,
sound tends to travel. I understand that the applicant is not proposing any amplified sound; however, all
too often this leads to a slippery slope. I am concerned that this is a mere starting point for the winery
and then there will be an expansion that does call for amplified sound, in addition to more events
I am worried that roads in the area cannot support the traffic generated by the winery business and the
marketing events cannot be sustained on the existing roads. There is only a small dirt road that ends
well before it reaches the property where the applicant intends to build the winery. It is not suitable to
build a winery where the infrastructure cannot support the number of trucks involved in the production
and distribution of wine, let alone the amount of vehicles that will be utilizing this unimproved road for
the marketing events proposed in this application. There is no road that exists that could support this
vast and sudden increase in traffic without major construction and maintenance making it an unsuitable
location for this project. The County must give serious consideration to this issue as the regular use of an
unimproved road can have serious consequences for public safety.
Because of the disruption this winery would cause to the neighborhood and fact that the applicant has
not even addressed the fact that there is no way to even get traffic to the winery, I must oppose this
project.
Sincerely
./ 0
L
