AUG 16 1995 JOYCE W. SHOCKLEY
COMMUNITY DEVELUrtvicf f DEPT. 1400 CAMPBELL LANE
PLANNING DIW-SiON SACRAMENTO, CA. 95822
August 14, 1995
SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT
Development Services Division
1810 East Hazelton Avenue
Stockton, CA. 95205
RF: DEWEY GEORGE
APPLICATION NUMBERX-95-1
ATTENTION; CHANDLER MARTIN
Dear Mr. Martin:
Following up on our telephone conversation of August 11, 1995, this to confirm
my very_ strong objection to this proposed change in the location of the Calaveras
River channel as shown in the drawing on the reverse of your letter.
In this drawing the channel referred to as "New Channel", this has been the river
channel since our family purchased this property in 1913. The river channel has
never run through the part of the property shown as "Old Channel". This was a
large expanse of rock and gravel, which was dredged in 1940 and 1941, but the
dredging was discontinued in 1942.
Such a proposed change of the river channel would jeopardize our river pump on
the South side of the river as well as those below ours on the river. This change
could cause erosion on the South side of the river, creating many more problems.
Any attempt to go forward with this project would result in legal action against all
parties involved.
j- ou s truly, ,
ce*Shockley
