with a minimum parcel size of 40 acres. This zoning designation "is established to
preserve agricultural lands for the continuation of commercial agricultural enterprises."
Existing and Proposed Septic Tank Usacie
Existing Septic System
According to Mr. Kramer, one septic system currently exists on the Site. The system
serves the residence; its construction details are unknown.
Proposed Septic System
According to the proposed site plan, the renovated agricultural building will utilize a new
septic system to serve a small restroom.
On-Site Septic Permit History
No septic system permits for the Site were identified at the San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department.
Existing Septic Tank Usage in the Vicinity
To estimate the existing septic system usage in the area, our office counted septic
systems that exist approximately one square mile surrounding the property. Air photo
imagery from GoogleEarthTM was used. Each building cluster on the photo was
assumed to have one septic system. Using this method, we estimated that a minimum
of 15 septic systems per square mile exist in the immediate vicinity of the Site.
The general area consists of vineyards and orchards with occasional rural residences.
Septic Permit History in the Vicinity
Based on a review of septic permits on file at the San Joaquin County Environmental
Health Department for nearby properties, the septic systems in the area appear to
utilize leach lines. The septic permits can be found in Appendix 4 of this report.
LOG El 120 Page 2
