• Land Use
The project site is currently used as rangeland for grazing of sheep.
• Mining Plan
o Topsoil
The topsoil stockpiles will be hydroseeded in the same manner as
described in the attached planting plan.
o Mine Wastes
No wastes will be created on this project site as no processing will take
place here. The only activity that will take place directly on this site is
the extraction of sand and gravel.
• Wastewater
No wastewater is generated on-site as there will be no material processing on-
site. Material is transported to the processing plant as described in the
Proposed Mining Operations portions of the permit application. In addition
portable toilets will be provided for employees.
• Post-Mining Topography
The post-mining topography will be hydroseeded with the same plantings as
indicated in the panting plan included below.
• Revegetation
o What tests will be run to determine whether soil or mine wastes need soil
amendments to promote the support of plant growth—The material on this
site is similar in composition to that located on the adjacent mining
properties. Based on experience with plant growth on these other
properties, this hydroseed mixture tends to germinate and grow quickly.
a What methods are going to be used to protect redistributed topsoil from
wind and water erosion before and after seeding a planting—The exposed
redistributed topsoil will be hydroseeded to protect from wind and water
erosion. If necessary haybales or other similar erosion control devices will
be placed on the slopes until seeding can take place. In addition, until it
begins to rain and the hydroseeding takes root, the area will be watered by
a water truck to ensure Aust suppression.
o What types and amounts of fertilizers, mulch, soil stabilizers, lome or
other materials will be used in revegetation and indicate when they will be
applied-- As indicated in the attached hydroseed mixture, as provided by
Selby's Soil, a mulch, fertilizer, and stabilizing emulsion will be applied in
conjunction with hydroseeding.
