Kathy Allen
1810 East Hazelton Avenue
Stockton, CA 95205
RE: Initial Study—File No: PA-0500729 Project Applicant: Olivera Family...
Dear Ms. Allen:
We have had the opportunity to review the Initial Study dated November 7, 2005 you
provided to Rogene this afternoon. We believe this Initial Study is incorrect in the
following specific areas. We believe there are sufficient reasons why a Negative
Environmental Declaration should not be adopted.
Page I,— Surrounding Land Uses:
f North: Agriculture—This is essentially correct
4
South: Agriculture/Old River—This should note that property located south of the
x project on Stewart Tract is presently zoned for residential development.
Planning for this residential development has been ongoing.
East: Agriculture—This should be changed to Agriculture/Residence as the
adjoining Larkin property includes at least three residences.
West: Agricultural/Residence—This is essentially correct as the subject property
presently includes two homes and the adjoining Muller property has homes.
Page 2 —General Considerations:
Question 1. Should be answered YES—Poultry farm operations always generate
significant controversy about flies/Insects and smell from neighbors. Newly
proposed projects should not be approved with these inherent problems subjected on
the neighbors and existing property owners. The subject project is directly upwind
from present residential development scheduled for construction on Stewart Tract
(River Island).
1
