[2] Cont.
— Rice, pasture and alfalfa are also grown in the surrounding study area. The topography of the site
is relatively flat. Therefore, a proposed septic system design would not have to be altered to
accommodate slopes. Parcel A contains a house, pole barn, shed and a corral.
A review of Application Permits on file at the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department
indicates there have been 11 Applications for Repairs/Additions in the one mile diameter study area.
Most of these applications for system modifications were for additional drainage to existing systems,
particularly as seepage pits. This number of Applications can be considered high for the study area
and indicate the soil is not conducive for shallow effluent percolation.
[3] PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT OF THE SUBJECT SITE
The property is zoned AG-40 with the general plan designation as agriculture. As referenced
above, a 40.02 acre parcel is being split off with the Designated Remainder at approximately 120
_ acres. It is our understanding there is to be no improvement to Parcel A. However, as referenced
in Section 1, a percolation test was not conducted on the Designated Remainder since there are
no plans at the present time to improve this acreage. As required by the Environmental Health
Department, the Final map must state that in the event a building permit is taken out for the
Designated Remainder, a percolation test must be performed either in the area of the proposed
septic leachfield, or closest proximity to the structure.
[4] SOIL PROFILE AND PERCOLATION TESTING
During drilling of the percolation test hole, the soil structure was carefully analyzed. The
predominate soil type from existing grade to approximately 9 ft is a clay soil. From our past
experience, this is the predominate soil type, to this depth throughout the area. Well logs reviewed
at the Health Department indicate there are occasional sand strata at shallow depths.
L
Q-lity control J.Pdion
