GEOSYNTEC CONSULTANTS
rr
Ms. Amy Terrell
18 November 2004
Page 3
ammonia as nitrogen (EPA Method 3503), the finnigants 1,2-dibromo-3-chloropropane
(DBCP), ethylene dibromide (EDB), and 1,2,3-trichloropropane (1,2,3-TCP)
(EPA Method 504.1), carbamate and urea pesticides (EPA Method 8321), and volatile
organic compounds (EPA Method 802113). Samples taken from monitoring wells MW-
2 and MW-3 were also analyzed for chlorinated herbicides (EPA 8151) per the MRP.
Analytical results from APPL for the current sampling event are summarized in Table 3,
along with historical results. The APPL analytical laboratory report is provided in
Attachment 2.
The following discussion of analytical results is organized according to the position
of the monitoring wells relative to the site; i.e., upgradient (MW-1 and MW-4),
immediately downgradient of site operations areas (MW-2 and MW-3), and
downgradient of the site(MW-5).
Uparadient—MW-1 and MW-4
_ Wells MW-1 and MW-4 are located hydraulically upgradient of the site operations,
in the southwest and northwest areas of the site, respectively. Concentrations of TON
detected in samples taken from these-wells during the current sampling event were 9.03
and 3.95 mg/L, respectively. Ammoni was detected in monitoring well MW-4 at a
concentration of 9Z-mg/L.
Pesticides and VOCs were not detected in the upgradient wells in the 3`d quarter
2004,which is consistent with previous sampling events.
,= Operations Area—MW-2 and MW-3
Wells MW-2 and MW-3 are located on the downgradient property boundary, in the
northeast and southeast areas of the site, respectively. Groundwater elevations and
chemical data for TON, ammonia, 1,2-dichloropropane (1,2-DCP), and DBCP in well
MW-2 are plotted versus time on Figure 6, and nitrate and ammonia in MW-3 are
plotted versus time on Figure 7.
In MW-2, TON was not detected and the concentration of ammonia was 84 mg/L,
which is the lowest ammonia concentration in MW-2 since November 1999. MW-2 is
P:\PRJ2003REM\WFS\VER\MONF\3QO4\WC04066.dm
