Item #206 HSC 25200.3(c)(6)(7)
Hazardous Waste Treatment records attached.
The waste water pretreatment system is designed to treat(neutralize) all
wastewater as produced. "Storage" is sufficient only to cover short periods of
imbalance between production (wash rack) and treatment flows. The cone bottom
tank is emptied daily to ensure that all particulates pass through the system to the
sewer without collection. Thus, the only residuals will be recovered oil/diesel
from the API separator, which are picked up periodically by a registered oil
disposal company for disposal.
The pretreatment system is fully automated requiring the operator only to start the
mixers in the neutralizers (pre and final) and the hose pump feeding the pre -
neutralizer. All systems operate automatically to control the p H of the
wastewater. The operator checks the p H meters periodically, along with the
operation of mixers, pumps, levels, tec. Should the p H move outside the control
range requiring system shut down, an alarm sounds to alert the operator.
During the operator inspections, the operator also looks for leaks/spills, of
wastewater within or outside of the containment, signs of deterioration or stress of
tanks, piping, pumps, etc. which could result in leaks/spills. Any leaks or spills
must be evaluated as to be a threat to people or the environment and appropriate
action imitated. (alarm, notify supervisor, regulatory agencies, etc)
Item #207 HSC 25200.3 (c)
Inspection records attached
Inspection logs are maintained both by the operator and the facility manager.
Typically, the operator records are monthly check sheets requiring daily entries
(i.e. Wash Rack Maintenance log) and the Facility Manager records are kept in a
log which he maintains. Both of these records are maintained daily.
Item #3210 HSC25200.C(2)
Hazardous Waste cannot be minimized without reducing or eliminating the
business activity which produces it (trailer washing). This requirement is not
applicable to this operation.
