5
n
7
Identified Contamination Source Evaluation
At least four septic systems are
currently located on the Site. It
appears that one of these may
have served a mobile home which
is no longer present. A fifth system
may exist to serve the
southernmost mobile home, or that
home may have been plumbed into
the unused system. (Current on-
site)
Seven pole -mounted transformers
were observed on the Site. Only
one was marked with a blue sticker
indicating it to be free of PCBs.
(Current on-site)
Three mobile spray tanks and
several buckets, mostly empty,
were observed in the barns. A
bucket, presumably of oil, was
observed near the irrigation well.
(Current on-site)
Surface debris was observed at
two locations on the Site. A pile of
scrap wood, brush, and 35 to 40
tires was observed to the west of
the southernmost mobile home;
much of this debris may be the
remains of the corral previously
located on the Site. Additional
scrap metal and wood, as well as
approximately 15 tires, was
observed at the southeast corner of
the Site. (Current on-site)
One listed facility (Stabler Ranch)
was identified within one-quarter
mile of the subject Site. (Current
and past off-site)
The system for the main house is
currently in use. It is anticipated
that the systems for the mobile
homes will be destroyed under San
Joaquin County permit when those
homes are removed from the Site.
If an unused system still exists
which served the former mobile
home, that system should also be
destroyed under permit.
The utility provider may have
additional information about PCB -
content of the unmarked
transformers.
No staining was observed in the
vicinity of the spray tanks and
buckets in the barns. Use of oil for
irrigation wells is common practice.
Tires are considered hazardous
because of the fumes released
should they catch fire. If the owner
has no intention of reusing the tires,
they should be appropriately
disposed. Disposal of the metal
debris is also recommended if it is
not slated for future reuse.
Based on its distance from the Site
and the types of databases on
which it is listed, this facility is not
anticipated to have impacted the
subject Site.
LOGE 1940 9
