SOIL SUITABILITY STUDY
PROJECT: 25130 N. Sowles Rd., Acampo, Ca. 95220
APN: 007-150-26
MS 99-05
CLIENT: Sally J. Morehead
SUMMARY
The property at this location is being subdivided into 3 parcels with a remainder.
The three new parcels are vacant. This study is not applicable to the remainder.
This study is required by the conditions of approval dated-May 5, 1999 by the Community
Development Department, San Joaquin County.
SITE BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The existing private residence is located on the remainder. All.parcels are served by N. Sowles
Rd. The Tentative Map was prepared by Monte Seibel, LS,Lodi, California.
The existing septic system was repaired April 4, 1995. The repair consisted of placing 40' of leach
line and one pit(36"x25'). The property has been farmed since 1960 by the Morhead family or
leased out for fanning. The agricultural use has been sudan grass for seeds, clover for seeds and
corn and oats. Winter oats is the current crop. The Surface and Subsurface Contamination Report
did not indicate any health hazards that would preclude developement of the parcels.
GROUNDWATER INFORMATION
Groundwater elevation as determined by the San Joaquin County Flood Control and Water
Conservation District Maps(1992) show the elevation of-40' on Lines of Equal Elevation of
Water in Wells and 120 feet on the ma Ln ines of Equal Depth of Water Wells, Fall 1992
SOIL PROFILE AND PERCOLATION TESTING
Too obtain a soil profile, a 25' hole was drilled in the field. The top 36 to 50" of soil is composed
of silt, sand and clay. Hard pan was encountered at various levels on the three parcels. On parcel
1,the hard pan layer was approximately 2.5'thick. A sand layer existed below the hard pan for
approximately 3.5', then a mixture of silt, sand and clay to a depth of 20'. At 20' a sand layer was
encountered.
The resident across Sowles Road from the profile hole stated the hard pan was 2'thick on his land
and he never experienced any problem with the septic system. (Long term resident)
The percolation test results for the three parcels are included in this report. The test holes were
3.
