Soil Suitability Study
Parcel Nos. 1 & 3 of Brovelli WoodsVineyards Tracy Lake Subdivision
The"Soil Survey of San Joaquin County, California, United States Department of
Agriculture Soil Conservation Service" issued October 1992 lists the soil type in this
general area as San Joaquin Loam and reddish-brown in color. Other information on the
soils in the area of the subject property of this report listed in this United States
Department of Agriculture Soil Survey of San Joaquin County are tabulated as follows:
Depth Percent Permeability Depth to Water
Inches Clay (Inches/Hour) Feet
0 - 16 15 - 25 0.6 -2.0 More than 6
16 -26 35 - 50 0.2 -0.6
26-60 ---- Less than 0.6
PERCOLATION TESTS:
Shallow(about 3'depth)and deep(25' depth maximum)percolation tests were
performed on both Parcel Nos. 1 and 3 on April 27 and 28, 2000 and on April 30 and
May 1, 2000, respectively. Deep percolation tests holes were drilled to maximum depths
of 12.0 feet and 14.3 feet below the ground surface for Parcel Nos. 1 and 3, respectively,
and the deep test percolation rates for these two parcels were determined at these levels.
The shallow percolation tests for Parcel Nos. 1 and 3 were excavated to depths of 33
inches and 36 inches respectively and the shallow test percolation rates for these two
parcels were determined at these levels on the same days the deep percolation tests were
conducted. All of the percolation test holes were either drilled or excavated on Thursday,
April 27, 2000.
The shallow test hole results did not conform to the '/2 inch drop in a thirty(30)
minute period(60 minutes per inch percolation rate)required by San Joaquin County to
permit the installation of a leach field sewage facility and necessitated the need to
perform deep percolation tests.
The percolation tests conducted were performed in accordance with the
percolation test procedures outlined in the"Manual Of Septic Tank Practice"published
by the Department Of Health Education And Welfare and the requirements of the San
Joaquin County Public Heath Service,Environmental Health Division.
The deep percolation test hole for Parcel No. 1 is identified as PD 1 and the deep
percolation test hole for Parcel No. 3 is identified as PD3. The shallow percolation test
hole for Parcel 1 is identified as PSI and the shallow percolation test hole for Parcel No.
3 is identified as PS3. The locations of these deep and shallow percolation test holes are
shown on the attached"Parcel Map"and the attached`Brovelli Woods Vineyards Tracy
Lake Overall Site Exhibit". These test holes were tested over a four-hour period and the
results of the percolation tests are tabulated below:
2251 West Forest Lake Road, Lodi California 95242
4
