i
Second Quarter 2005 Groundwater Monitoring and Remediation Status Report
Moore Petroleum Bulk Plant,5441 F Street,Banta,California
Page l
I System performance totals:
This Quarter Cumulative
Pounds of TPHg removed: 7 5,267 (836 gallons)
Pounds of benzene removed: 0.0 1.84
Ozone System:
# - The ozone system consists of an okygen concentrator, an ozone generator, a supply compressor,
conveyance tubing, and individual injection points, or"sparge"points: The ozone generator
produces ozone for chemical oxidation of organic chemicals. An oxygen concentrator increases
the ozone production by three times. The dual-contained conveyance tubing provides routing of
the generated ozone to the selected sparge points. The sparge points provide a micro-porous
medium to produce small bubbles of ozone for mixing into the surrounding groundwater
formation.
System startup date: February 17, 2005
Active sparging wells: OS-1 through OS-10
CONCLUSIONS
Based on groundwater analytical results, concentrations remained consistent this quarter '
compared with historical results. Hydrocarbon concentrations classified as TPHd, TPHmo, and
TPH as kerosene continue to vacillate between each other due to laboratory interpretation of the
results. Wells MW-4A, MW-5, MW-6 and MW-12 were below laboratory detection limits for
all analytes. The domestic well sampling results for the three sampling events during the quarter
were below detection limits for all analytes.
Groundwater elevations increased an average 0.59 feet this quarter compared with last quarter.
Groundwater isoconcentration maps for TPHg, TPHd, TPHmo, TPH kerosene, and benzene
show the petroleum hydrocarbon plume defined downgradient, while the isoconcentration map
for MTBE not defined downgradient.
During the summer of 2004, the SVE system experienced non-detect results from the influent
sampling performed on the SVE system. Due to the non-detect concentrations in the influent
samples, as reported by the lab for May and June 2005, Apex believes that the site concentrations
are in a seasonal low as experienced last year.
r;
