DeBoer Truck Lines, l!!� <br /> Invitation For Bid <br /> Page: 2 <br /> product occurs at the site; (4) evidence that polluted soils are, or may be, in contact with <br /> surface or groundwater; or (5) any other conditions which would cause the DEH to <br /> require a full soil and groundwater investigation. <br /> B: Background <br /> On October 21, 1992, a licensed tank removal contractor removed two (2)underground <br /> fuel storage tanks from the DeBoer Trucking property. The tanks included one 6,000 <br /> gallon diesel tank, and one 8,000 gallon diesel tank. The soil samples taken under the <br /> diesel tanks disclosed concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbon in the diesel range. <br /> On January 15, 1993, the contractor re-excavated the former underground tank facility at <br /> DeBoer Trucking. The soil was screened with a portable PID and the excavation logged <br /> by a registered geologist(Attachment 1). Highly contaminated soils were encountered <br /> during the excavation and did not appear to decrease much with depth. The excavation <br /> was terminated at 25 feet in depth and samples were taken of the floor and the sidewalls at <br /> 18 feet in depth. <br /> The lateral limits of the excavation were forty feet from north to south and twelve feet <br /> from east to west.
