R" KLEINFELDER
The soil probes will be advanced using a truck mounted geoprobe rig. The geoprobe utilizes a
pneumatically driven stainless steel push probe assembly for the advancement of the borehole.
Soil samples will be collected at approximately 1 foot, 5 feet, 10, 15, 20, and 25 feet bgs. The
soil samples will be field screened with a photoionization detector(PID).
While sampling, an experienced environmental geologist will classify the subsurface soils
generated by the advancing push probe. Soil samples will be collected by cutting out the desired
interval from a continuous core interval (successive 4 foot acetate liners) and sealing the ends
with Teflon sheeting and tight fitting plastic caps. Each sample will be individually labeled and
placed in an iced cooler pending transport to the analytical laboratory under chain of custody
protocols. The borings will be closed in accordance with San Joaquin County PHS/EHD
guidelines by grouting to the surface. No further concrete or asphalt patching is proposed to
finish the probe locations at this time. Any waste soil generated by the geoprobe and rinseate
water from the decontamination procedures will be contained and left on site pending laboratory
analysis of the soil samples.
The 3 soil samples collected from each of the 3 probe locations will labeled, logged on a chain of
custody, and stored in an iced cooler for transportation to the analyzing laboratory. A total of 9
soil samples is proposed to be analyzed at this time.
Laboratory Analysis
A total of 9 soil samples will be collected from the soil probes. The soil samples will be
submitted to a laboratory certified by the State of California for the proposed analyses. At this
time Kleinfelder proposes to use Sequoia Analytical (Sequoia) of Sacramento, California. The
soil samples will be analyzed for:
• Volatile Hydrocarbons by EPA Method 8260
• Fuel Fingerprint by EPA Method 8015M
• CAM17 Metals by EPA Methods
The samples will be analyzed on standard 10 day laboratory turnaround time. Sample analysis
can be expedited for additional fees upon request.
2.3 Geophysical Survev
A limited investigation will be performed in the area of a reported possible underground storage
tank (UST). The investigation will be performed utilizing a magnetic geophysical survey
method. The magnetic survey will aid in possibly determining subsurface structure locations
without any physical intrusive methods.
02 01PhOP.ENV/STO2P112 Page2of6
Copyright 2002,Kleinfelder,Inc.
September 30,2002
