O1 September 2009
AGE-NC Project No. 09-1717
(Olmsted and Davis, 1961); the site itself is located on unconsolidated and semi-consolidated
alluvium, lake, playa and terrace deposits of Quaternary age (California Division of Mines and
Geology, 1977). Rocks composing the basement complex of the Province have not been completely
defined but are believed to be metamorphic and igneous in origin.
The Modesto, Riverbank and Turlock Lake Formations and overlying Recent alluvium are the
principal sources of domestic ground water in the 13,500-square mile San Joaquin Valley Ground
Water Basin(Basin 5-22).The estimated depth to ground water at the site is approximately 40 to 50
feet below surface grade(bsg)based on information from Lines ofEgual Depth of Water Wells Fall
1999,published by the San Joaquin County Flood Control District and Water Conservation District-
FCD&WCD. Based on the map titled Lines of Equal Elevation of Groundwater Spring 1999 also
published by the San Joaquin County FCD&WCD, the local ground water elevation is generally
toward the east. However, this may be greatly modified by local recharge and discharge patterns.
2.2. PREVIOUS SITE ASSESSMENT
APhase I Environmental Site Assessment(Phase 1)was performed the property in September 2001.
Research for the Phase I revealed several areas of potential environmental concern on the site:
• The service area pit or vault associated with the in-ground scale located near the northwest
corner of Parcels 40 and 41.
• A former diesel AST and associated fueling system known to be in-place on the property for
three to five years and removed in 1993.
• The long term use of Parcels 40 and 41 as a canning facility and the denotation on the 1950
and 1972 Sanborn Fire Insurance maps that the property used fuel oil, possibly in the location
of the former boiler room.
• The possible presence, as noted in the Assessor's Office Records, of a gas pump and gas or
fuel tank. The gas pump and tank were listed as removed in March 1971 and may have been
in place in 1952. AGE has no knowledge of the location of the pump and tank, or how long
the fuel was dispensed, or what type of fuel was dispensed.
• The presence of a "repair shop" on the southern area of Parcel 41, as noted on the 1950
Sanborn Fire Insurance map.
On 26 June 2003,five soil probe borings were advanced at the site,to a depth of 25 feet below surface
grade (bsg), for collection of soil samples. Discrete soil samples were collected at 5-foot intervals
beginning at 5 feet bsg.A total of five soil samples were submitted to a laboratory for analysis.Target
analytes were not reported above laboratory reporting limits in any of the soil samples analyzed.
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
