The Work Plan proposes to dig six trenches
two to three feet deep around aboveground tank (AGT) No. 3302 to delineate the extent of
separate phase hydrocarbons (SPH), to monitor wells PS/P-10, PS/P-11, and PS/P-12 to verify
whether recent releases have affected the groundwater downgradient of AGT 1503, and to remove
SPH in ST/MW-1 by hand bailing weekly.
The Work Plan does not discuss whether ST Services will dig step-out test pits in the event that
SPH is encountered in a test pit. Board staff concurs with the Work Plan provided that ST
Services digs step-out test pits where necessary to delineate SPH in soil and groundwater. By
9 May 2003, please submit an investigation report detailing field activities including the
monitoring well data and results of weekly hand bailing of ST/MW-1.
