.. low
Shell Oil / Equilon page 2
2494 E. Fremont St., Stockton.
Due to "separate phase product" detected in monitoring well S-1 in April 1998, a groundwater
sample was not collected and analyzed for all of the oxygenates as required by PHS-EHD. Only
MTBE has been included in subsequent QMRs.
You are hereby directed to sample monitoring well S-3 for all seven oxygenates by method
8260B starting immediately. Additionally, Equilon is also directed to submit complete
QMRs to PHS-EHD before the next quarterly sampling event. All Quarterly Monitoring
Reports are to include professional interpretations, recommendations, and conclusions of
the site's status.
A work plan to install an up-gradient monitoring well and to laterally and vertically delineate
the soil and groundwater plume identified in the northwestern island area is due at PHS-
EHD by October 15, 1999. Please contact the public agency in charge of the right of way to
obtain the appropriate encroachment permits and submit them with your PHS-EHD boring
permit application and fee.
You may continue to submit your reports and all correspondence to Michael Infurna and you may
call him at (209) 468-3454.
Donna Heran,RENS, Director
Environmental Health Division
Michael J.
