CAMBRIA
Site Safety Plan: A Site Safety Plan will be prepared for field work.
Utility Clearance: The proposed drilling locations will be marked and cleared through
Underground Service Alert prior to drilling.
Soil Borings: Borings SB-26 and SB-27 will be advanced with cone penetration testing (CPT)
equipment at the locations shown on Figure 2. The borings will be drilled to 150 feet below
grade (fbg) or until the CPT drilling equipment can advance no further, whichever comes first.
The borings will be logged using the CPT electronic logging equipment. Soil samples will be
© collected from these borings at depths of approximately 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, and 70 fbg.
Groundwater samples will be collected from these borings at depths where coarse-grained
sediments are encountered. Assuming soils beneath the 2491 East Fremont Street property are
similar to those encountered beneath the subject site, groundwater samples will be collected at
approximately 85, 110, 130, and 150 fbg, where coarse-grained sediments have been found
during previous investigations. The actual groundwater sampling depths will be determined in
the field.
The well borings for S-7 and S-8 will be drilled with hollow stem auger drilling equipment. Soil
samples will be collected at 5-foot intervals in these well borings for soil description, possible
chemical analysis, and screening for organic vapors using a photo-ionization detector (PID).
Cambria will prepare an exploratory boring log for each well and PID readings will be recorded
on the boring logs.
A Cambria geologist will supervise the drilling activities. The scope of work described in this
work plan will be performed under the supervision of a registered geologist. Soil samples
designated for chemical analyses will be retained in stainless steel or brass sample tubes. The
tubes will be covered on both ends with Teflon sheets and plastic end caps. Soil samples will be
labeled, entered onto a chain-of-custody record, and placed into a cooler with ice for transport to
a State of California certified laboratory for analysis.
Well Installation: Wells S-7 and S-8 will be drilled to approximately 65 fbg, and constructed to
monitor the shallow groundwater zone. The wells will be constructed using 2-inch diameter
Schedule 40 PVC well casing. The wells will be screened from approximately 50 to 65 fbg using
0.020-inch slotted well screen. The sandpack will be placed from the bottom of the well screen
up to 2 feet above the top of the well screen, followed by a 2-foot thick bentonite seal, and
cement grout to grade. Actual well construction details will be based on field conditions during
drilling. Each well will be secured with a locking cap under a traffic-rated well box.
